Lets Talk The Brookie Pan!

logo3I contacted the Love Cooking Company right before the Christmas Holiday as I knew most people loved baking around the holidays. I love baking any time of the year, but especially around the holidays. I wanted to try something new and fun when baking up all the goodies for my family. My husband is a huge fan of brownies so I decided to try out something called  The Brookie Pan made by Mrs Fields.

So basically what it is, is a pan where you can bake brownie mix around an already made cookie. My husband was all about trying this out the second it arrived here, as we’ve been really strict on cutting the junk out as much as possible. So we decided to make them up for our Christmas Eve Treat!

We first had to make up a batch of cookies. We chose to use an M&M pouch cookie by Betty Crocker. They were simple, and easy to make before hand, you can feel free to use any cookie you’d like. Even store bought cookies will work just fine. The cookie to brownie combination is endless. Just use a cookie that is about 2.5 inches to 3 inches in diameter. After you’ve baked the cookies you make up your brownie mix. Now they say it takes about 2 boxes of brownie mix to fill the 6 Brookie molds. It was pretty accurate too, we had a little left over to make maybe two more. After you’ve made the brownie mix, fill the bottom part of the mold with brownie mix, then place the cookie on top of the island piece in the center. Then be sure to cover the cookie, but be careful not to over fill your molds as it will expand a little.

My husband was a bit of a smarty pants, and used my cupcake froster as an easy way to inject the brownie mix carefully into the molds. Once they are filled to the appropriate amount you then just bake them like normal brownies, about 38-40 minutes. After the allotted time take them out and let them cool completely before popping them out. After you’ve done so you’ll have something that looks like this!

You can eat them as is, or put ice cream on top and have yourself a brownie sundae. My husband and I just ate it as is. Let me also add that one is WAY MORE then enough to feed two people. They are really rather large and sweet, so half of it should be enough to cure any sweet tooth you may have. The only thing that was a bummer was the amount of brownie mix needed to make them. Two boxes for 6 of them makes these a once in a blue moon thing. It’s not like I could go ahead and make 24 of these for my sons class for his birthday like I could cupcakes. It would get rather costly, and with the left over brownie mix, I feel like I’d either be wasting the mix, or I’d be buying more brownie mix just to even out each batch.

Over all these were delicious, fun and definitely a must have for my husband. I am really happy to have this pan to add to my baking collection. Thank You to the Love Cooking Company for allowing me to test it out and review it. Please be sure to visit them on Facebook and follow them on Twitter.
