The fall has wrapped us up like a warm blanket. The trees have begun to turn gold, the leaves have begun to fall to the floor, the days are shortening and there is a distinct nip in the air, all of which means the holiday season is just around the corner… and we can’t wait! Well, we can’t wait for most of it. The stress of Christmas shopping, however, that we’re not so enthused by.

It isn’t that we don’t love giving gifts because there is nothing more amazing than seeing a loved one’s eyes light up like the North Star. It is just so overwhelming, which sucks because presents are meant to be amazing and fun and anything but stressful. With that said, we have come up with some top ways on how to take the stress out of your Christmas gift shopping and, who knows, maybe even enjoy it for once.

Always Start Early

If you think reading a blog about Christmas present shopping in October is absurd, then we have probably discovered why you find this whole process such a stressful event. You see, the earlier you start the less stress you will incur. You’ll have more time to plan what you are going to get any more time to trawl the shops, instead of making a panicked purchase on Christmas Eve.

Look For Clues

It could be in a conversation, it could be by stalking their social media pages, it could even be that you look for clues the next time you are at their house. Once you have a clue, then you have your ticket to a stress-free present purchase. If they love dogs, then do what you can to find more dog based presents. If they have a thing for experiences, then see what you can get them on that front. If they are an absolute sucker for the theatre, then you know what you need to do. The more clues you can gather the easier your gift-giving will become.

No The Return Policies

We’re not always going to hit the nail on the head when it comes to giving presents, so why not safeguard yourself a bit and ask what the store’s exchange or return policy is. Not only will this show that you care about the recipient’s happiness and contentment, it will also help you find peace of mind knowing that your gift wasn’t a waste of money and the present you bought won’t get shipped off to the attic to gather dust. Either way, make sure you keep hold of the receipt and pop a little note in with your card to let the gift receiver know you are happy to let them exchange.

Never Underestimate A Gift Card

Chances are, you aren’t going to get all of your shopping done on time. Even with two-plus months to go, there is invariably going to be someone you forgot or someone you struggled to buy for, which is when a gift card could come to your absolute rescue. Of course, this can feel a little impersonal, which is why we recommend you get slightly creative. Either get a gift card to a specific shop that you know they will like or get creative with the way you give it to them. It could be with the wrapping or it could be that you set up a scavenger hunt where they have to find clues in order to find the present. After all, we all love the opening part most of all.
