Trend Micro – Complete Protection for All Devices

Trend Micro

As I grow older and became more wise (or at least I think so) I’ve realized just how dangerous some of my actions were as a teenager in regards to online use. The early 90s was when the age of the inter web started to take off. Sure we only had dial up back then and had to choose between receiving phone calls or mindlessly surfing the internet. I remember being told that the internet was a dangerous place. I didn’t fully understand what that meant until things happened that would forever be out there in the world wide web. Out there for everyone to see, and share all over.

In today’s society, the age in which a child gets their very first phone, computer or tablet is much younger than when I was growing up. My son is 8, and already talking about “when can I get a phone”, or computer? I honestly don’t have an answer for him, other than not right now. I want to share with him importance of internet safety and set rules and boundaries for him to follow. Trend Micro is a company that’s helped making the Internet Safety Talk a bit more guided.

Trend Micro explains that now more than ever our households are filled with devices that connect us to the internet. It links all of our personal, valuable information to these devices that if not protected properly could be hacked. Giving hackers access to our personal files such as pictures, videos and other financial information. How many of you have had your children “accidentally” purchase, or download an app because of an ad they clicked on through a free game? Scammer/hackers know all of the tricks, and bait techniques to draw in their potential targets. I’m hoping by addressing some of the following dangers, we can then provide proper knowledge to our little ones prior to strolling the internet, and apps.

Things like Netflix and Hulu are a danger to our children if not properly monitored. They’re subjected to foul language, violence, sex and things not age appropriate. YouTube is also easy enough for children to navigate through, but very appealing to young viewers. My children love watching YouTube, but it’s not always great content for my 4 and 7 year old to be watching. All of these devices have security settings. Companies like Trend Micro take internet protection to a whole new level.
